Dear Members and Future Members,
March is here, bringing with it beautiful weather, a fresh sense of renewal, and the promise of growth. As we step into this new season, I am energized by the momentum within our organization and excited about where we are headed together.
At our recent luncheon, our Membership Director, David Camarillo had everyone laughing when he asked attendees to raise their hands if they were members, then promptly thanked them for joining his committee! His lighthearted reminder carried a powerful message, that it truly takes all of us to attract and welcome new members. Each conversation, invitation, and shared experience strengthens our association.
I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to those who participated in our Valentine’s Day AAHA Gives Back outreach at The Laurels Assisted Living community. Watching the residents’ faces light up, especially as they pet Harry, the therapy dog, or enjoyed freshly painted nails, was a beautiful reminder of why we serve. Your kindness and presence made a meaningful impact.
Our last luncheon was equally inspiring. Nicole Amerson, Director of Operations for Cool Crest Miniature Golf and Schilo's, shared a deeply personal story and is pioneering a successful second-chance employment program at Schilo’s. Her partnership with Judge Ernie Glenn highlights the life-changing power of opportunity and mentorship. Hearing Judge Glenn speak with such pride about her and other individuals who have gone through his program and are now leading successful lives was truly impactful. Stories like these remind us how leadership and compassion can transform our community.
This month, we are excited to gather at Home2 Suites by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk where we will hear from Christine Hill with the City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture. She will share insights about the San Antonio Film Commission on what it does and how the hospitality industry can support the city’s film-friendly efforts. By working together, we help keep San Antonio a recognizable and sought-after location for popular films and television shows.
As part of AAHA Gives Back, we will continue collecting personal hygiene items at our next luncheon which will in turn be donated to Haven for Hope. Bring three items and you will earn a free fishbowl ticket! Small acts of generosity add up to significant impact.
