Dear AAHA Members and Future Members,
As we approach Independence Day, it’s a great time to enjoy good food, good company, and all the things that still make us proud to be an American. This year feels extra special as we celebrate 250 years of American independence. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and take a moment to reflect on the freedoms, opportunities, and sense of community that bring us together. On behalf of the Alamo Area Hospitality Association, I wish each of you a safe, happy, and memorable Fourth of July!
June was an incredible month for AAHA! We kicked things off with a fun and engaging Breakfast Bingo at Topgolf San Antonio. Thanks to their generous donation of the space and breakfast, we were able to raise $900 for AAHA Gives Back! A huge thank you to the entire Topgolf team for their hospitality and support.
One of the highlights of the month was volunteering at Ronald McDonald House San Antonio, where our members spent time serving families and giving back to our community. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers who donated their time and energy to make the event such a success. Kneading pizza dough and cooking pizzas in open-fire ovens was certainly a first for me. A special shout-out goes to Ohio Crawford and Backyard on Broadway for providing the setup and food. We’d also like to thank Judy Sandoval with DoubleTree by Hilton San Antonio Northwest for providing their famous warm chocolate chip cookies, which were a huge hit. Judy even arrived wearing chocolate chip cookie earrings, a fun touch that showed her enthusiasm for the theme and the hospitality spirit!
We also enjoyed an outstanding Networking Luncheon at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, where we welcomed back, by popular demand, Dr. Eric Kowalczk, Founder and CEO of Connection Point. His presentation on Crisis Management offered valuable insights and practical strategies that were well received by our members. At the luncheon, we held elections for our Treasurer-Elect Board position. We were fortunate to have two outstanding candidates step forward in service to AAHA. Please join me in congratulating Isabella Scargill, Group Sales & Charter Manager with Old Town Trolley Tours of San Antonio, on her election. We are excited to welcome Isabella to the AAHA Board of Directors and look forward to her contributions in the years ahead.
Now, let’s talk about July!
We look forward to seeing everyone on July 16 at LADINO! This promises to be a top-notch luncheon and one you won’t want to miss. As part of our ongoing commitment to giving back, don’t forget to bring school supplies to support Communities In Schools of San Antonio during our Stuff the Bus drive. Every donation helps students start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
And there’s more! LADINO has generously donated a $200 Gift Card Grand Prize for our Fishbowl fundraiser benefiting AAHA Gives Back. Be sure to participate for a chance to win while supporting a great cause.
I am incredibly proud to be part of such an engaged, generous, and supportive hospitality family. The spirit of service, collaboration, and community that our members demonstrate month after month is what makes AAHA truly special. Looking ahead, we’re excited for our Back-to-School Breakfast Bingo at The Creamery District. If you have promotional flyers you’d like highlighted during the event, please send them to Agonzalez@casario.com.
Thank you for your continued support of AAHA and the hospitality industry. I look forward to seeing all of you soon and celebrating another fantastic month together!
Warm regards,
L’Lee
